Green Skills for Sustainable Tourism &#8211;<\/strong> project gathered in Brussels on 17<sup>th<\/sup> November 2025 for the official <strong>Kick-Off Meeting<\/strong>, marking the formal launch of a 36-month Erasmus+ cooperation initiative, co-funded by the European Commission, designed to strengthen green competences within the tourism sector, with a particular focus on coastal areas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GREEN TOUR aims to support the <strong>twin transition<\/strong> of the tourism industry by equipping Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), students and tourism professionals with <strong>micro-credentials<\/strong> and practical training aligned with <strong>GreenComp<\/strong>, the EU\u2019s sustainability competence framework.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The agenda included an in-depth overview of the project\u2019s:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Background, priorities and objectives<\/li>\n<li>Distribution of labour and workplan<\/li>\n<li>Milestones and Gantt chart overview<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Partners reaffirmed the project\u2019s commitment to enhance HEIs\u2019 capacity to support the green transition of the tourism sector, foster academic-industry cooperation and deliver targeted skilling, upskilling and reskilling opportunities for the current and future tourism workforce.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Multidisciplinary European Partnership<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The consortium brings together 9 organisations from across the EU, representing Higher Education Institutions, tourism boards, digital innovation actors and policy organisations:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>University of Dubrovnik<\/strong> \u2013 Croatia<\/li>\n<li><strong>Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria<\/strong> \u2013 Spain<\/li>\n<li><strong>Universit\u00e0 degli Studi G. d\u2019Annunzio Chieti-Pescara<\/strong> \u2013 Italy<\/li>\n<li><strong>University of Piraeus<\/strong> \u2013 Greece<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tourist Board of Vrsar<\/strong> \u2013 Croatia<\/li>\n<li><strong>IDP European Consultants<\/strong> \u2013 Italy<\/li>\n<li><strong>Institut de Haute Formation aux Politiques Communautaires (IHF)<\/strong> \u2013 Belgium<\/li>\n<li><strong>Internet Web Solutions (IWS)<\/strong> \u2013 Spain<\/li>\n<li><strong>Organization for Promotion of European Issues (OPEI)<\/strong> \u2013 Cyprus<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Each partner presented its institutional role and contribution to GREEN TOUR during a structured \u201ctour de table\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A European Model for Sustainable Tourism<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The GREEN TOUR project is expected to deliver:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>baseline study<\/strong> on green skills for sustainable tourism<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>co-created training programme<\/strong> in 5 languages<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Digital Hub<\/strong> for collaboration, training and certification<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Handbook<\/strong> and <strong>Policy Roadmap<\/strong> for long-term capacity building<\/li>\n<li>Engagement of <strong>learners<\/strong>, <strong>stakeholders<\/strong> and <strong>other contacts<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The project supports the European goals of decarbonisation, innovation in teaching and the strengthening of green competences across strategic sectors, directly contributing to Erasmus+ priorities in environmental sustainability, digitalisation, and innovative learning practices.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stay tuned for the next steps.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;
